Blair Witch Trailer

This is an interesting scinareo where a documentary is transformed into a feature movie. everything from the setting to the equipment and characters are all real: there is no crew present, everything is filmed on handheld camcorders to add to the effect. this is all deliberate to make the concepts seem real as they would be in a documentary.
This also means that the film is low buget, without the need of famous actors, sets and equipment, which made it both more possible and realistic at the same time. All of the footage that is said to be 'found' on the cameras is edited into a feature length narrative which completes the transfer from documentary to film.

The Trailer itself consists of small clips; again from the 'found' footage edited with with copy and non diagetic sounds to add to the suspense for the audience. this is done in such a way that it still makes the narrative believable.

Ghost Hunting Documentaries

I have chosen to make a documentary on a ghost hunting theme, creating similar settings and effects to current documentaries such as 'Ghost Hunters' 'Most Haunted' and 'The Othersiders'. I am also using Paranormal horror/ thriller and documentary style films such as 'Paranormal Activity' to gather ideas of locations, characters, camera angles and Mise-en-scene.

I have included some examplesand clips below:

The Othersiders

Ghost Hunters

Most Haunted

Paranormal activity

A2 Practical Production

For my A2 practical production i have chosen to make an extract from a new documentary. I am planning to make a 'mockumentary' style ghost hunt / paranormal documantary. I have chosen this because I am interested in moving image media and I enjoy editing moving image. I also think that making a documentary of this theme would be interesting and present many challenges which I will be able to overcome, such as capturing footage in one single take with the use of multiple cameras and creating a 'haunted' and 'dark' atmosphere in the post production.
